Etsy Offsite Ads calculator: are ad sales losing you money?
When a buyer clicks one of Etsy's ads on Google, Instagram or Pinterest and buys within 30 days, Etsy takes an extra 15% of the order (12% if your shop made over $10,000 in the last year). Enter one listing's numbers to see what you keep on an ad sale, what you keep on a normal sale, and the lowest price where an ad sale still makes money. Free, nothing leaves your browser.
US Etsy rates as of October 2026: 6.5% transaction fee and 3% + $0.25 payment processing on the order total (item + shipping), $0.20 listing fee per item sold, Offsite Ads 15% or 12% of the order total, capped at $100 per order. Your time and sales tax are left out. Rates change; check Etsy's fee page.
Which of your products actually survive the ad fee?
This page checks one listing. The Seller Profit Sheet reads your monthly Etsy sales export and shows real net profit per product after every fee, including Offsite Ads, with a red LOSING MONEY flag on anything underwater. Excel and Google Sheets, one-time $14, no subscription.

How the Offsite Ads fee works
Etsy advertises your listings on other sites at its own expense. You pay only when one of those ads leads to a sale within 30 days of the click. The fee is a share of the whole order total, item price plus shipping, and it never goes above $100 for one order. It comes on top of the normal 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing, so an ad sale costs about 24.5% plus $0.45 in fees at the 15% rate.
The break-even price for an ad sale
An ad sale stops losing money when the order total covers your costs after about 24.5% in fees:
break-even order total = (costs + $0.45) ÷ (1 − 0.245)
With $7 in materials and packaging and a $5 label, that's $12.45 ÷ 0.755 = $16.49. Price below that and every Offsite Ads sale costs you money before you've paid yourself anything. At $25 with free shipping you keep $10.18 on a normal sale and $6.43 on an ad sale.
Should you opt out of Offsite Ads?
Shops that made under $10,000 in the last 12 months can opt out in Shop Manager > Settings > Advertising. Once you pass $10,000, Offsite Ads become mandatory at 12% and you can't turn them off. Opting out makes sense when ad sales leave you little or nothing. It also means fewer sales, because some of those buyers would never have found you. If ad sales still leave a profit, they are usually worth keeping. A middle path many sellers take is raising prices slightly across the shop so ad sales still pay.
Questions
Can I see which orders came from Offsite Ads?
Yes. Each order that came from an ad shows an Offsite Ads fee line in your payment account, and Shop Manager > Marketing > Offsite Ads shows the totals.
Does the fee apply to shipping?
Yes. It is charged on the order total including shipping, which is why moving shipping into the item price doesn't change the fee.
How do I see the real effect across my whole shop?
Your monthly sales export includes every fee Etsy took. The Seller Profit Sheet above turns it into profit per product, so you can see which listings ad fees push into a loss.
