US seller rates as of October 2026. Sales tax is left out (marketplaces collect and pay it for you). Rates change; check your platform's fee page for your country.

That's one sale. Which of your products lose money?

The Seller Profit Sheet does this math for every product at once. Paste your Etsy or Shopify sales export, type in Amazon or eBay sales, and it shows net profit per product after fees, labels, discounts, returns and ad spend, with a red LOSING MONEY flag on anything underwater. Excel and Google Sheets, one-time $14, no subscription.

How each platform's fees work

Etsy fees

Etsy charges a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus the shipping you charge, payment processing of 3% + $0.25 per order (US), and a $0.20 listing fee each time an item sells and auto-renews. If the sale came through Offsite Ads, add 15% (12% if your shop made over $10,000 in the last year), capped at $100 per order. Free shipping doesn't avoid the 6.5%; it just moves the shipping into the item price, where the fee applies anyway.

Shopify fees

With Shopify Payments you pay the card rate for your plan (Basic: 2.9% + 30¢ online, US) and no transaction fee. Using an outside payment gateway adds a further 2% on Basic. Your monthly plan fee is overhead, so spread it across your products rather than counting it per sale.

Amazon fees

Most categories pay a 15% referral fee on the total sale price, including shipping. If you use FBA, the per-unit fulfillment fee depends on size and weight; enter it above. Professional sellers also pay $39.99 a month.

eBay fees

Most categories pay a 13.6% final value fee on the total amount (item plus shipping), plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 if the order is $10 or less).

How to price so the fees don't eat you

Fees are a percentage of your sale price, not your cost, so "cost times two" can still lose money once fees, a free-shipping label and a few returns come out. The price that hits a target margin is:

Price = (cost + label + fixed fees) ÷ (1 − fee % − target margin)

The calculator above uses this formula for the "price you need" line.

Questions

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the 3% processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge, not just the item.

What percentage does Etsy take in total?

For a typical US sale, about 9.5% of the order plus $0.45, or roughly 24.5% plus $0.45 when the sale came from Offsite Ads.
