Get the Seller Profit Sheet, $14 one-time. Launch price: 50% off with FIRST10, first 10 buyers.

Gumroad rates as of October 2026: 10% + $0.50 per direct sale (your own link or profile) and 30% on sales through the Discover marketplace. Several third-party summaries report that card processing (about 2.9% + $0.30) is deducted on top of the 10% for direct sales, while the 30% Discover fee includes it; Gumroad has changed its pricing several times, so check Gumroad's pricing page and adjust the rates here. Sales tax and VAT that Gumroad collects are left out.

That's one product. Which of yours lose money?

The Seller Profit Sheet does this math for every product at once. Paste your Etsy or Shopify sales export (or type in Amazon and eBay sales) and it shows net profit per product after fees, labels, discounts, returns and ad spend, with a red LOSING MONEY flag on anything underwater. Excel and Google Sheets, one-time $14, no subscription.

Two fee schedules, depending on where the buyer came from

Direct sales. When a buyer comes through your own link, your profile, an embed or your email list, Gumroad charges 10% of the price plus $0.50. Third-party summaries of Gumroad's pricing report that card processing, roughly 2.9% + $0.30, is taken on top of that. Check Gumroad's pricing page for the current terms; every rate here is editable.

Discover sales. When the buyer finds you through Gumroad's own marketplace, Gumroad takes a flat 30%, which already covers processing.

Direct fees = price x 12.9% + $0.80  |  Discover fees = price x 30%

Example: a $10 template. A direct sale costs $1.50 in Gumroad fees and $0.59 in processing, $2.09 in total or 20.9%, so you keep $7.91. A Discover sale costs $3.00 and you keep $7.00.

Where the fixed $0.50 starts to matter

The 30% Discover fee sounds expensive, but it has no fixed part. A direct sale carries $0.80 of fixed fees ($0.50 to Gumroad and $0.30 to processing) whatever the price. At $10 that fixed part is 8.0% of the price. Below $8.00 it is more than 10%.

Below $4.68, a Discover sale actually costs you less than a direct sale. On a $3 product, a direct sale keeps $1.81 (fees take 39.6%) while a Discover sale keeps $2.10. On a $1 product a direct sale keeps just $0.07, against $0.70 from Discover.

If you sell low-priced items through your own audience, bundling several into one product, or setting a pay-what-you-want minimum around $5, keeps the fixed fee from swallowing each sale.

Questions

How much does Gumroad take from a $10 sale?

On a direct sale, $1.50 in Gumroad fees (10% + $0.50) plus about $0.59 in card processing, so you keep $7.91. On a Discover sale Gumroad takes 30%, $3.00, and you keep $7.00.

Does Gumroad charge payment processing on top of its fee?

Third-party summaries say yes for direct sales: about 2.9% + $0.30 on top of the 10% + $0.50. Discover's 30% is reported to include processing. Check Gumroad's pricing page, and edit the rates here if your payouts show something different.

Is Gumroad worth it for cheap products?

The fixed fees hurt. A $1 product sold directly keeps about $0.07 after fees. Below $4.68 you keep more from a Discover sale than a direct one, so for low prices, bundles work better.

Is it better to get sales from Discover or my own link?

Above $4.68, your own link keeps more per sale: $0.91 more at $10. Discover is still worth having as extra sales you wouldn't otherwise get.
